The Mansion House is an architectural masterpiece and certainly one of York's great historic treasures. The Mansion House is a repository for the extensive collection of civic regalia and artefacts. The impressive collection of silver, paintings and furniture is unequalled by any provincial city.
Visitors can experience how previous Lord Mayors used to eat and drink, and even find secret compartments on a bureau and to see where the chamber pot was kept!
The Mansion House is also still a home as it is the official residence of the Lord Mayor of York.
The house is open for guided tours every Friday and Saturday at 11.00am and 2.00pm and from the first weekend in March to the last weekend before Christmas.
The Mansion House is fully wheelchair accessible.
